In a world of absurd things, the creation of a $24,000 joint is music to our ears! We don’t stock such a J here on GRASSDOOR.com at this present moment, but this gigantic masterpiece by California-based Stone Road Farms is inspiring us to dream big.
As Forbes reports, Stone Road Farms is an LA-based organic pre-roll company. Currently listed on our menu here at GRASSDOOR, we stock a variety of pre-roll joints, which we’ll tell you more about later!
Known for the perfection of their pre-roll joints, Stone Road Farms set out to create a herculean 30 inch-long joint at a recent celebration in Downtown LA in aid of animal welfare.
It’s unlikely we’ll be able to add a 24K joint to your next LA cannabis delivery, but we’re proud of our extensive menu that’s curated by our team so that only the freshest products are listed.
All eyes on the J: In aid of animal welfare
A celebration of 150 invitees gathered at Fig Earth Supply, an organic nursery in Downtown to celebrate Stone Road Farms going compliant with new California regulations. While the celebration featured vegan nibbles, cocktails and plenty of laughter, no one was expecting the unveiling of a monster-joint which then went up for auction in support of the African Wildlife Foundation.
Lex Corwin, the founder of Stone Roads Farms, toasted to the 11 California dispensaries who stock their pre-rolls, grown lovingly in Grass Valley, California.
“Beyond throwing a party to celebrate our expansion, I wanted to incorporate a social cause element, so I decided to create a joint in the shape of a giant elephant tusk to signify the detrimental toll the ivory trade takes on wild elephants,” Corwin explained.
Corwin’s history in real estate lead to work in the marijuana industry, but his love of elephants, fostered as a child, never went away. He reached out to a Hollywood prop master in the hope of commissioning this tusk-inspired mega-joint, but to no avail.
Ultimately, world-class joint roller, Weavers, was enlisted to create a smokeable joint made up of one pound of Stone Road Farms flower combined with bubble hash (which actually bubbles as you smoke it). They added Team Elite Genetics flower and six ounces of Soilgrown Solventless concentrate. The concoction was then wrapped in a lot of paper before being lavished with 24-karat gold rolling paper by Shine.
In an auction, one of Stone Road Farms’ first investors pitched in $4000 and took home the joint. While this was somewhat of a bargain, Corwin was delighted to keep the prized goods in the network!
“I’m just honored to be donating the proceeds of this event to support AWF’s important work to stop elephant poaching and end the horrific practice of trafficking ivory and other wildlife parts from threatened species. Tusks belong on live, healthy wild elephants and nowhere else.” Said Corwin.
